Sydney, 7th August 2023 – the Department of Applied Finance of Macquarie Business School, in association with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) Sydney Branch, successfully hosted the renowned 2023 Banking and Finance Forum on 7th August. The event took place at the university's Arts Precinct Building C and attracted a stellar crowd of industry magnates, esteemed scholars, and promising leaders from both the academic and banking sectors.The forum was a unique blend of industry and academic sessions. The morning was reserved for an industry panel, which featured luminaries such as Mr. Wayne Byres, the former Chair of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority; Mr. Tom Rosewall from the RBA; Emma Ringland from Ringland Advisory & Associates; Professor Elizabeth Sheedy from Macquarie University; Ben Gray, Deputy Group CFO at Macquarie University; Nicole Marchhart, Head of Sustainability at Macquarie University; and Sam Chee, CA from ERM. The afternoon was enriched with academic insights, with keynote speeches from globally renowned figures like Professor Alberto Rossi Georgetown University and Professor Ross Buckley from UNSW. Additionally, Associate Professor Buhui Qiu and Dr. Hoonsuk Park Park from the University of Melbourne also shared their expertise during the forum.
