Early socialization environments and practices of both the home and school are extremely important in supporting young newcomer children from immigrant and refugee backgrounds. When greater connections between the home and school are made, newcomer children can experience positive identity development, adjustment, learning and socialization. This session will explore how early childhood educators can use time, space, materials and activities to create more culturally inclusive and responsive practices to better support newcomer children in their classrooms.
