The annual Festival of Learning took place on 19 and 20 August. For the first time, the Faculty of Science and Engineering joined forces with the Macquarie University Business School, Faculty of Arts, and Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences to make this celebration even more vibrant, diverse, and impactful.
The Festival provided an opportunity for our community where Macquarie University staff showcased their transformative efforts across Schools and disciplines, presenting on topics such as redesigning curricula, experimenting with bold new assessments, embracing the power of Generative AI, supporting student success, embedding Indigenous knowledges, enhancing numeracy and data literacy, and partnering with industry to bring learning to life.

Dr Patricia Koromvokis participated in the AI Roundtable Discussion, which followed a presentation by Phil Laufenberg, Head of AI at Macquarie University, on the Introduction to AI at MQ. Andrew Hopkins, Professor of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, facilitated a provocative panel discussion on the evolving roles of academics as AI becomes more prevalent in our industry and addressed key concerns surrounding the responsible and ethical use of AI in academic settings.
