This is a presentation made (virtually) at 'Myth Making and Future Possibilities: How the Humanities Can Offer Hope in Times of Crisis - MCCALL HDR Conference, 9 December 2022'. I argue that the NDIS and the reorientation to make human need, disability and illness a commodity has robbed us of key understandings of citizenship which we need to urgently re-discover. As I say, I would much rather be a citizen than a consumer.
