Description

The aim of the workshop is to foster an interdisciplinary discussion on the ethics of pathologising ugliness. By "pathologising ugliness" we mean the process of reframing physical features deemed unattractive as disorders that are subject to medical and surgical interventions. In particular, the workshop aims to explore the various means by which health and beauty norms become conflated in aesthetic medicine, and the ethical issues that arise from this conflation.
