Many adult physicians are involved with treating and supporting patients living with disabilities. They can sometimes feel ill equipped in handling these often complex and challenging situations. Session Outcomes:
• Appreciate a consumer perspective on what living with a disability means
• Understand what NDIS is, what it can provide and how physicians can constructively engage with NDIS to meet their patients’ needs
• Gain a better understanding of what a dual diagnosis of intellectual and mental disability is and how to provide appropriate care, particularly in an inpatient setting
