This talk examines how Han Kang's novels Human Acts and We Do Not Part employ spectrality to engage with the trauma embedded in the Korean national psyche, caused by state-sanctioned violence during historical events such as the Gwangju Uprising and the Jeju Massacre, positioning the reader as a witness to the haunting legacies of these atrocities.
