Aspirational climate goals not good enough

Press/Media: Other

Description

Pledges and 30-year net-zero emissions commitments by listed companies are not good enough ("Net-zero pledges are empty without action: super funds.") Australia needs to consider clearer legislation to enforce listed companies to provide detailed information in their financial reporting as to how they will achieve emission reductions to net zero. Otherwise this information cannot be audited. “Carbon neutral” or “zero-carbon” statements might sound like great aspirational goals, but beware, companies might eventually be held responsible.
