Australia to take advantage of low oil price to shore up strategic oil reserve

Press/Media: Expert Comment

Description

The COVID-19 pandemic has raised questions about Australia's self-sufficiency in many areas; food supply, medical manufacturing, and also now in our fuel supply.

The Federal Government earlier this week announced it would take advantage of the low oil price to shore up Australia's strategic oil reserve.

But the oil will have to be stored offshore, in the United States, because refineries here are at capacity.
