Bitcoin mine generates enough heat to produce NSW brewery's beer

Press/Media: Expert Comment

Description

A brewery on the NSW Central Coast is using computers mining bitcoin to heat the water it needs to make beer.

Bitcoin mining is so energy-intensive it is banned in some countries, but the brewery uses excess electricity generated by solar panels.

The business says the process generates about $2,000 a month in income, which goes towards paying its power bills.
