DescriptionDid slaves build the Pyramids is a commonly asked question. In this session of the popular spot 'Self Improvement Wednesday' with Richard Glover on ABC 702 Drive, Dr Sowada explains that the idea goes back to Herodotus in the century BC. It was later expanded by Josephus in the 1st century AD, who claimed the enslaved Hebrews of the Old Testament Book of Exodus built them. What archaeological evidence reveals, however, is that a highly organised, skilled Egyptian workforce were responsible, supported by thousands of farm workers pressed into service during long months of the Nile flood.
