    In today's issue of Nature, researchers report a
    discovery of more than 7,000 stone tools showing a
    distinct upgrade in stone-shaping techniques —
    including advanced blades, points and scrapers —
    dating as far back as 385,000 years ago.

    The age order of the sediment layers "looks good", said Kira Westaway, a luminescence dating expert at Macquarie
    University.
    But, she added, "it would have been good if the researchers dated more than one sample from the 385,000-year-old
    sediment layer.
