Title Public Accounting Course: Be Different Media name/outlet STAN State Financial Polytechnic Country/Territory Australia Date 2/04/18 Description PKN STAN again held a public lecture with competent speakers from abroad. The public lecture held by the STN Accounting Department of PKN was titled "Contemporary Performance Management Practices in Public Sector", by Prof. Rahat Munir from Macquarie University, Australia. On this occasion, Mr. Yuniarto Hadiwibowo as Chair of the Accounting Department was present to assist Prof. Munir and at the same time open the event which was held in G PKN Building, STAN, Wednesday (03/28/2017).
In his remarks, Mr. Yuniarto advised the students to absorb as much as possible the knowledge shared by Prof. Munir. "Hopefully children can gain insight and deepen their knowledge," Yuniarto said.
In his presentation entitled "Benchmarking and Crafting KPIs for Organizations", Prof. Munir repeatedly emphasized innovation and differentiating products. Uniqueness is key, so that when we have competencies that are different from others, the benefits will be greater. Furthermore, Prof. Munir explained four elements of competitive advantage, namely efficiency, quality, response to consumers, and innovation.
The lecturer who has won various international teaching awards gave an example, one fast food restaurant that has been globally famous has always taken the location in the middle of a densely populated city. They serve menus at medium prices, but with quality standardized throughout the world.
"The restaurant can combine global and domestic. They are able to meet the expectations and culture of each different country. For example, in Indonesia they removed the pork menu, replaced by other product differentiation. Some products are successful, but some other products may fail, "he explained.
For this reason, Munir added, measurement results were needed. He said, if we don't measure results, we cannot say that achievement is a success. As a result, we also cannot avoid a failure. Performance measurement can be done through input (budget), output produced, efficiency (unit cost), effectiveness (quality measurement), and results.
At the end of the lecture, Nur Muhlisin, a student of D4 Accounting assignment who acted as a moderator summarized and concluded all the material that had been conveyed by Prof. Munir. Even though it was held by the Accounting Department, not a few students from other departments also attended listening to the public lecture carefully and enthusiastically while asking a number of questions.URL pknstan.ac.id/home/kuliah-umum-akuntansi-jadilah-berbeda.html Persons Rahat Munir
