Refinery fire prompts fuel supply warning (ABC Radio AM Program)

Press/Media: Expert Comment

Description

Some energy analysts suggest that governments should consider the next steps in regulating fuel demand following a major fire at Australia's largest oil refinery.

The blaze at the Viva Energy refinery at Geelong, south west of Melbourne, began on Tuesday night and burned for more than 12 hours.

Experts are warning the incident will likely push up petrol prices in Victoria and that there needs to be serious consideration on how to limit national fuel consumption.
