You want your kids to speak a second language — what works?

Press/Media: Expert Comment

Description

Speaking a second language has many proven life benefits: in academic performance and in the job market. And if you grew up with a language other than English, it's even more important for your sense of  identity.

For such a multicultural country, the number of Australian students choosing to learn a second language at school is very low -- fewer than ten per cent, and the choice of languages is limited.

So what's the best way to get children speaking a second language?
