Description
During the 2000 field season at Ismant el-Kharab, excavation began in the Small East Church to establish its relationship with the Large East Church located to its north-east. The archaeology of the site demonstrates that the Christian monuments at ancient Kellis (Ismant el-Kharab) are important and sheds light on the development of ecclesiastical architecture and a growing community. Comparisons are made with Dura Europos in Syria.
