Description
On the basis of a re-examination focusing on the pottery from the Prehistoric Masara (Early Holocene) and Bashendi (Mid-Holocene) Cultural Units in the Dakhla Oasis as well as that from the Sheikh Muftah Unit, which seems to have survived until late OK times, the author is able to show that pottery was manufactured long before its first, currently documented occurrence in the Nile Valley in the late 7th millennium BP.
