Description
It is well-known that the ancient Greeks and Romans were enthralled by Egypt. The article examines how Ammianus Marcellinus, a Greek and former soldier, writing in Latin at the end of the 4th century AD, bears witness to the on-going fascination even after 900 attested years of encounters with the land.
