Description

The article presents a survey of the textual and iconographic evidence for the sport of fencing in Ancient Egypt. Unfortunately, no written rules for the game of stick fighting survive from Ancient Egypt, but modern parallels, such an old custom in Germany, are drawn in for comparison. The earliest evidence for the game in the presence of a pharaoh is to be found in an Amarna tomb. (OEB)
