Description
Both Seti I and Ramses II held their respective fathers in high esteem and commissioned a number of works to perpetuate their memories. In the case of Seti I, these activities seem to have been motivated in part by the desire to strengthen his claims to the throne. Apart from this, however, a genuine closeness seems to have existed between the members of the Ramesside family. (OEB)
