Description

At Ismant el-Kharab (ancient Kellis) excavation concentrated on the 'villa' (Area B/3/1) and the 'pigeon loft' (Area B/3/2). The types of structures are assessed and their importance for the study of Romanization of provincial Egypt is discussed. At Mut el-Kharab, trenches were opened in the central temple area and at the north-western and the south-eastern corners of the Temenos. The ceramic finds are extensively documented.
