Description

The iconography of the banquet scenes on 18th Dynasty tomb walls is detailed and descriptive. Data from 48 scenes and accompanying texts is analysed. The banquet is established as appealing to the five senses, demonstrating drinking to excess and involving additives to the drink. Reflections on the significance of these observations in the funerary context are discussed.
