Description

Many private tombs of the Old and Middle Kingdom show the tomb owner fishing and fowling in the marshes. One special detail - the marsh-hunting dress, the SnD.wt kilt - has been interpreted as orginating in the royal iconography. This kilt in its variants is analysed in its occurrences over time from the Old Kingdom to the New Kingdom, and the concept of imitating royal iconography is discussed.
