Description of impact *
In response to Hillier, Jones and their collaborators' "Writing Themselves In 3 research" and related publications on harm reduction for LGBTIs in schools, the Victorian Baillieu Government allocated $4 million to initiatives to prevent suicide and self-harm in same-sex attracted young people. This included the first $80K funding given to properly establish the Safe Schools Coalition (SSC) Victoria program, which engendered continued support for years particularly spurred on by the research team's calls for support for anti-homophobia programming at National Safe Schools Symposia form 2012. The continued funding of these programs then went on to be an election issue in 2016 particularly as the research team, the expert advisors for the SSC program and LGBTI NGOs advocated for programs' expansion nationally.Noonan, A.
