Description of impact *
Rodney Croome, President of Equality Tasmania, requested data pertaining to the experience of LGBTQ conversion practice. A response was offered including estimates of overall prevalence of this experience, drawn from a recent survey of 6,184 LGBTQ young people, as well as correlations of this experience with a range of health and social outcomes (including mental health, suicidality and homelessness). This was to be used for the purposes of informing submissions relating to conversion practice legislation currently under consideration by the Tasmanian Law Reform Institute (TLRI) and for the subsequent report submitted by the TLRI to the Government of Tasmania. The analyses themselves were drawn from analyses prepared by Jones T, Bourne A, & Anderson J.Impact date | 25 Jan 2021 |
