Description of impact *
This activity has resulted from media commentary, opinion piece writing, and industry engagements -seminars/webinars, that explains the Economics of Supply focused on COVID-19 events throughout 2020 and 2021. Prashan provides his expertise to industry and the media on current issues – where he presents a unique blend of expertise in learning and teaching, as well as business and economics.
Media
Regarding COVID-19, Prashan has provided commentary to the BBC, the ABC, Newscorp, Fairfax, AusBiz, Smart Company, UK’s FMCG CEO Magazine, several industry magazines, as well as Macquarie University’s, The Lighthouse.
In 2021, Prashan's commentary was sought after by FMCG CEO UK, who asked him to write 3-page expose on the Australia UK Free Trade Agreement.
In 2022, Prashan's commentary was featured in ABC News Online as well as ABC Radio Sydney and ABC Radio Darwin.
Prashan uses these articles as resources in his teaching of Business Forecasting and the BCom Capstone.
Industry and Government
In 2020, the foreign exchange firm, Ebury, together with the government agency, Export Finance Australia, asked Prashan to be one of three panelists on the forum, Economic Impact of COVID-19 on Australia.
The recording was shared afterwards which helped create a scalable resource for Prashan's Capstone course – giving a richer discussion for his students via the three-member panel of academia, industry, and the government – and expanding his network of guest speakers into the BCom and the BCom course review.
