Impact: Training impacts

Description of impact *

In Prashan's role as BCom Course Director, he is the convenor of the capstone for 600 students per semester. The BCom Capstone course – Agility and Excellence in Business (MQBS3010).

Engagement Grants

The course is supported by the 2020 MQBS Teaching and Leadership Support Scheme (TLSS), “Lego Serious Play”, and a 2021 MQBS TLSS, “BCom Course Compass Live!”. As the Course Director, Prashan launched this programmatic learning initiative to bring industry guests to campus to advice to students about employability.

Industry Impact

Students can discuss their projects with industry guests, and experience real world inspiration, insights, and feedback. Each session, students gain the chance to have live industry guests in classes from 20+ industry practitioners. Industry guests have included the 'big 4' banks, 'big 4' consultancies, other corporates, government, and not-for-profit organisations. The program has grown to such an extent that industry guests often reach out to the team to be involved.

This course has impacts beyond Macquarie University via invitations to present these innovations nationally and internationally: the University of Melbourne (9 attendees); the ACTS Roundtable on the SDGs (10+ attendees); the Australian Conference of Economists (15+ attendees); the Developments in Economics Education Conference – United Kingdom (20+ attendees); and a  chapter in the EFFORT (EFFectiveness Of Responsibility Teaching) Handbook: “Shaping a Sustainable Future: Innovative Teaching Practices for Educating Responsible Leaders”, of the Erasmus+ Project – European Union (2022).
