Reducing emissions in the transport sector

Description of impact *

The Centre for Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Finance (CCSEF) collaborated with Toyota Fleet Management Australia to develop recommendations for decarbonising the transport sector.

The project resulted in various recommendations to substantially lower the CO2 emission impact of vehicles at the government, production and consumption levels.

Recommendations have led to the development of strategies to reduce the carbon footprint of a fleet by tackling directly the CO2 emitted per kilometer through the replacement of vehicles with similar ‘cleaner’ alternatives.

An initial case study shows that significant reductions in carbon emissions (of over 30%) can be achieved while also reducing costs and improving competitive advantage.
