We strive to be the premier hub where actionable research transforms how organisations innovate and grow, enabling leaders to make better decisions and build ventures that shape future societies.
The Macquarie University Innovation, Strategy and Entrepreneurship (ISE) Research Centre is dedicated to advancing cutting-edge and research-led insights into business growth, innovation, and entrepreneurial success. Through interdisciplinary research, industry collaboration, and policy engagement, ISE drives impactful solutions for startups, corporations, and policymakers navigating a dynamic economic landscape. Our focus areas include business model innovation, managerial and strategic decision making, entrepreneurship, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and family businesses, and strategic leadership, ensuring that Australian enterprises remain globally competitive.
By bridging academia and industry, ISE fosters groundbreaking research that translates into real-world impact. ISE staff hold grants awarded by the Australian Research Council, the Department of Education and various industry partners, and regularly publish in field-leading journals including Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Management, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Industrial Marketing Management. The TCU Global University Entrepreneurship Research Productivity Rankings has ranked the group’s output as Nr 1 in Australia and Number 19th globally in Entrepreneurship research.
ISE is also the Academy of Management Strategic Management (STR) Division’s exclusive partner to host their international ASEAN & Oceania satellite event, and it supports organising the 2025 Australian and New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC) Conference to be held at Macquarie University.
