Adelis Huang

Zhe (Adelis) Huang is a part-time Associate Lecturer (Teaching and Leadership) of the Postgraduate Program of Translation and Interpreting (MTIA and MCI), Department of Linguistics, the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences. Adelis has also been working as a freelance community interpreter, conference interpreter and translator for 20+ years. 

Adelis joined the Postgraduate Program of Translation and Interpreting at Macquarie University in 2007. Initially serving as a sessional academic, she then transitioned into a permanent part-time role, contributing to various practical units with a specialised focus on conference interpreter education.

In her pedagogical role, Adelis established the foundational curricula for several translation and simultaneous interpreting units, ensuring they meet rigorous professional standards

In addition, she integrates her freelance expertise into the curriculum to enhance market relevance. She is also responsible for leading the program's mock conferences, utilizing both on-campus and remote platforms to facilitate collaboration with global sister institutions.

Adelis actively enhances the standards of the interpreting profession through targeted engagement with external agencies. She has participated in the simultaneous interpretation (SI) training program for Indonesian government officials to prepare them for UNESCO assignments after Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) was desginated as an official language of the UNESCO General Conference. She also provides ongoing professional development for Multicultural NSW’s elite panelist interpreters in SI training.
