Biography

Alaa is a PhD candidate at Macquarie University where her research addresses the gap between urban planning and climate science towards achieving liveable and resilient cities to heat stress. She aims to develop a GIS model to assist the urban planner in the identification of the most beneficial urban heat island mitigation and adaptation measure. She completed her MSc at Cairo University, Egypt in 2013 by developing a framework to support sustainable development decision-making by integrating GIS into the EIA process.
