Biography
Ali (Alireza) Amrollahi is a lecturer in Business Information Systems at the Department of Actuarial Studies and Business Analytics, Macquarie Business School. With a portfolio of publications in several A*- and A-ranked journals (such as The Journal of Strategic Information Systems and Information and Management), his work has attracted significant attention. Ali’s research, highlighted in Macquarie's The Lighthouse and several other media outlets, has been implemented across various international organisations. He is a section editor at the Australasian Journal of Information Systems and a track chair at the Australasian Conference of Information Systems (ACIS 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2024).
Research interests
Ali's research interests span several critical areas within information systems, focusing on their social and organisational impacts. His research interest includes digital work, the strategic impact of emerging technologies, technology governance, openness, digital innovation and strategy, digital strategy, and digital strategizing.
Teaching
Ali's teaching journey, commencing in 2013 in Australia and the UK, is marked by innovation and student-centred approaches. He has received three teaching grants and actively engages in projects enhancing technology-aided learning, employability skills, and collaborative learning environments. Currently, his teaching focuses on the practical applications of information systems and disruptive technologies, such as blockchain, cybersecurity, and business processes.
Research student supervision
As a dedicated mentor, Ali has successfully supervised research projects, including guiding PhD and MRes students to completion. He has successfully supervised several PhD and MRes students and is currently part of the supervisory team for two ongoing PhD projects. Ali is open to supervising students interested in multidisciplinary research focusing on information systems.
