Personal profile
Biography
I am a Research Fellow and Clinical Psychologist at the eCentreClinic, Macquarie University, a specialist research centre for digital mental health.
I completed a Bachelor of Science (Psychology Honours) at Macquarie University, focusing on the mechanisms of decision-making, followed by a combined Doctor of Clinical Psychology and PhD program at the University of Sydney, examining eating patterns, cognition and decision-making in persons with higher weight.
My research interests lie at the intersection of mental and physical health, and I am particularly interested in:
1. The role of health-related behaviours on physical and mental health in cardiovascular disease and other chronic health conditions.
2. Psychological and behavioural intervention precision - "what works for whom".
3. Cognition, habitual and goal-directed behaviour in physical and mental health conditions.
4. Appetite, eating behaviour and disordered eating in chronic health conditions.
5. Environmental contributors to the shaping of behaviour, and the intersection of health and the built environment.
Clinical Expertise and Supervision
I have training and expertise in the treatment and management of weight and eating disorders, adjustment to chronic health conditions, medically unexplained physical symptoms, and mood and anxiety disorders, and I have worked in hospital, community and private settings with children, adolescents and adults. I also supervise mental health clinicians, including Clinical Psychology interns, at MindSpot Clinic, a goverment-funded digital mental health service.
Teaching
I have lectured in Master of Clinical Psychology and Master of Professional Psychology programs, on the mental health rotation of an MBBS program, and I have tutored across a number of undergraduate Psychology units.
