Personal profile

Biography

I am currently a student experience coordinator with the Macquarie Graduate Research Academy. I work with research candidates to enhance the social, wellbeing, and professional elements of doing a research degree across the university.

My disciplinary background is in philosophy, with a PhD from Macquarie in 2013, and a PGCert in Higher Education in 2016. I have previously held lecturing appointments in philosophy at Macquarie and the University Wollongong. I have worked in the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences in addition to the GRA.

Teaching

As an academic, I have taught numerous courses in moral, political and Europoean philosophy. I have also taught in history with a focus on theories and methods.

For the GRA, I have conducted workshops on professional skills for researchers.

Research interests

I continue to pursue research as a professional staff member, and use current research to inform my work. My research covers the following areas:

  • Metaphysics, epistemology, and methods of history
  • Political and social philosophy, especially with respect to education
  • Contemporary higher education policy
