Biography
Emilia is a development economist in the Department of Economics at Macquarie Business School. Her research focuses on the drivers and impacts of technology adoption within agriculture, energy, and small firm contexts. Much of her work highlights heterogeneity in decision-making and policy outcomes, with the goal of informing effective policy design. Emilia regularly collaborates with private and public sector partners to deliver and evaluate solutions for sustainable economic growth.
Her ongoing projects examine solar energy adoption by small firms, climate adaptation mechanisms, and competition in agricultural markets.
Emilia is a co-founder of AfriqAir, a cross-continental research network that has to date deployed over 50 low-cost air quality sensors and reference-grade monitors in 11 African countries.
Before joining Macquarie University, Emilia held academic positions at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, the University of Sydney, and Monash University.
