Dr Belinda Thompson joined the ALERT Centre in 2019. In her role as lecturer, Belinda forms part of the ALERT education teaching staff and has led the development of the new online interactive content. In 2024 Belinda was appointed Course Director for the Graduate Certificate of Lymphoedema Management. She also conducts and supports research into methods for early detection, diagnosis and intervention for lymphoedema and lipoedema. In 2020 Belinda completed the ALERT Level 1 Lymphoedema Accreditation Training Program. Belinda is a member of Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA), Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA), and International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry. Belinda is also a board member for the International Lipoedema Association (ILA).

Belinda completed her PhD studies in exercise and sport science, examining the effect of female hormones on body composition and muscle function. She is also an accredited exercise physiologist and worked clinically for seven years delivering exercise interventions for injuries and chronic disease management.
