Personal profile

Biography

I'm an Associate Professor in Statistical Data Science at Macquarie University, leading an Astrostatistics Research Group. I research extrasolar planets - planets around other stars - and focus on developing and applying new data science approaches for detecting and characterizing them.

At the moment, I'm most excited about using using radio astronomy to study planets' magnetic interactions with their host stars; and applying differentiable models of physical optics to hardware design and data analysis for exoplanet direct imaging. Recently I have been working on a survey of naked-eye stars in Kepler, K2, and TESS, to search for pulsating stars and transiting planets.
