Biography
Dr. Binesh Puthen Veettil joined the School of Engineering as a postdoctoral research fellow in May 2018. He received his Bachelor of Technology Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from National Institute of Technology, India, in 2002. From 2002 to 2008 he worked in the defence sector, focussing on sonars, fire-control systems, and underwater defence systems. He obtained his PhD in engineering in 2012 from the University of New South Wales. For the next 5 years, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the school of photovoltaics, UNSW. His focus was on the third-generation photovoltaic materials and novel characterization techniques, one of which was taken up for commercialization by a Sydney based start-up, where he currently engages as an academic advisor. In 2016, he joined Silanna semiconductors as a device design engineer and worked on improving their GaN Deep UV LEDs. He has published over 75 papers in reputable journals and conferences in the areas of photovoltaics, nanotechnology, materials, energy, optics and applied physics. He has won 6 professional awards and a research fellowship and 8 research grants.
