Brigid is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Philosophy. Having completed a Master of Research on animation, phenomenology, and Japanese philosophy in 2014, her broad research areas are philosophical aesthetics, philosophy of art, and cross-cultural philosophy. In the domain of film-philosophy she has published on Asian cinemas with respect to the work of Gilles Deleuze, Nishida Kitaro, Abhinavagupta, and Maurice Merleau-Ponty.
Within her broad research areas Brigid specialises in film-philosophy and animation, German Idealism and Romanticism, Indian aesthetics, Japanese philosophy, phenomenology, and decolonial theory.
Brigid has been involved in the undergraduate unit Body and Mind/Philosophy of Psychology, a course on philosophy of mind, as a tutor and Guest Lecturer on consciousness and Non-Western philosophy of mind. She has also tutored on existentialist philosophy, critical thinking, and ethics.
