Personal profile


Caitlin Finney is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Dementia Research Centre in the Department of Biomedical Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Macquarie University. Caitlin completed her Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Canada at the University of Toronto, wtih a focus on Neuroscience. She then joined the University of New South Wales in 2017 to complete her PhD in Pharmacology and Physiology where she focsed on the examing whether the off-label use of tamoxifen, a selective estrogen receptor modulator, is neuroprotective against silent infarct and subsequent neurodegeneration in a rat model. After the completion of her PhD in 2021, Caitlin joined the Dementia Research Centre at Macquarie University. 

Research interests

Caitlin's research focuses on understanding the pathology and mechanisms underlying dementia through the use of mouse models, cell culture, molecular biology, histology and biochemistry.
