Biography

Dr Carol Au is a Research Officer at the Dementia Research Centre, Macquarie University. She completed her PhD in Medicine at the University of Sydney (Children’s Hospital at Westmead). She then commenced postdoctoral training at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) on an American Heart Association Fellowship. Back in Australia, Carol has worked at the Children’s Cancer Institute, Institute for Molecular Biosciences, and UNSW Sydney. She joined the Dementia Research Unit at UNSW in 2017, and moved to Macquarie University as part of the new Dementia Research Centre in 2018.

Research interests

Carol's research focuses on the use of tissue culture model systems and AAV technology to decipher the molecular pathomechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases (Motor Neuron Disease, Frontotemporal Dementia, Alzheimer's Disease).
