Biography

As a mixed-methods researcher and advocate—my work is driven by a deep commitment to understanding the interconnected nature of hearing, deafness, neurodivergence, music, and health. With experience in academia, industry, government, and community, I thrive in collaborative spaces where research leads to real-world impact.

I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow exploring neurodivergent auditory processing at Macquarie University, and an Honorary Research Fellow with the Australian Institute of Health Innovation. My research spans multiple disciplines—from investigating the benefits of music training for individuals with hearing loss to exploring the role of trust, stigma, and empathy in hearing healthcare.

Outside of research, I serve as the Secretary for the Parents of Deaf Children—a not-for-profit organisation that advocates and provides support for families with deaf and hard-of-hearing children. I am also the founder of a Science and Creative Academy for deaf and hard-of-hearing children, which received an Engagement Australia Award in Community Engagement in 2021.
