Cormac is the Program Director at Trillium Technologies Australia where he builds public-private research partnerships to tackle the biggest challenges of our time. Trillium works with diverse partners, that include NASA, ESA and Australian Space Agency, to apply AI and space data to bushfires, flooding, climate change, ocean health and space science.
Before moving to industry, Cormac was Lecturer in Radio Astronomy at Macquarie University and maintains strong links to the Department of Physics and Astronomy as an honorary lecturer. His astrophysics research focused on the physics of the interstellar medium, but he also worked across disciplines - founding the X-Sensing Conference in 2019 and building an AI-driven shark species detector in collaboration with NSW Department of Primary Industries and Surf Life Saving NSW.
