Biography
Dominic Canestrari-Soh is a Sessional Academic in the Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance.
Dominic has taught across undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education units in accounting, auditing and corporate governance. He has been the recipient of several teaching awards and his work on embedding data analytics and visualisation into the auditing curriculum has been profiled in the media.
Dominic has worked in auditing, management accounting, and in technical roles in industry. Dominic's applied research in corporate and risk governance and internal and external auditing and assurance is internationally recognised for its impact and is widely cited.
Dominic has been the Chair of the IIA's Education Committee and Chair of the IIA's Academic Standards and Quality Subcommittee. He has contributed to the development of assessment and course material for the Audit & Assurance (AAA) Module in CA ANZ's Chartered Accountants Program, the Advanced Audit and Assurance (AAA) subject in CPA Australia's CPA Program and the IIA's Graduate Certificate in Internal Auditing (GradCertIA). Dominic has also convened the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) Forensic Accounting Specialisation Course. Dominic is a co-author of Auditing and Assurance Services: A Case Studies Approach, a text widely used in undergraduate and postgraduate auditing courses across leading Australian universities and the only text to have been endorsed by both CA ANZ and CPA Australia for the CA and CPA Programs respectively.
Research interests
Dominic's current research includes accountability and risk governance in financial institutions and the use of data analytics in auditing.
