Personal profile

I am currently Director Resources and Discovery.

My responsibility covers the Library's resources and discovery services which requires me to lead and manage the Resources and Discovery Department which manages discovery services and systems and is responsible for the identification, procurement, discoverability and accessibility of scholarly collections, including advice and leadership to the University. This department covers four teams: Collection Services; Collection Strategies, Discovery Services and Research and Digital Scholarship. I have extensive experience and knowledge in open access, scholarly communication and research support.

I am particularly interested in ensuring we integrate our systems in the most effective manner in order for us to provide a client focused service.

Previously I shared the role of Interim University Librarian at Macquarie University, Sydney Australia, from September 2018 to January 2020. Macquarie’s state-of-the-art Library is unmatched in Australia and provides access to over 1.5 million print and electronic books and around 78,000 journal titles. The extended University Librarian’s portfolio covers Library, Archives and Collections and includes 170 staff across the portfolio.

I have extensive experience in library management and technology systems, collections services acquisitions, and is particularly interesting in ensuring systems are integrated in the most effective manner so they provide a client focused service. Fiona is active within the profession and was previously a member of the International Group of Ex Libris Users (IGeLU) Steering Committee and the ANZREG: Australia New Zealand Regional Ex Libris Group Steering Committee.
