Dr Grant Shalaby has over 12 years’ experience as a consultant cardiologist, with experience at several teaching hospitals. His particular interest is in cardiac device therapy, particularly cardiac resynchronisation in the management of cardiac failure as well as an interest in cardiac imaging. Prior to his cardiology training Dr Shalaby worked in intensive care medicine and continues to manage patients in this setting.
He has been actively involved in medical education, both undergraduate and postgraduate, throughout his career. As the Network Director of Physician Training at Nepean Hospital, he was responsible for the establishment and implementation of internal medicine and cardiology specialist training for medical graduates at a number of hospitals. He has also supervised medical students for various medical schools, including Sydney University and University of Notre Dame. Dr Shalaby is the Critical Care convenor for the Macquarie MD Year 2 students.
