Biography

Holly Stefen was awarded a Bachelor of Psychological Science majoring in Neuroscience from UNSW, Sydney, in 2015. After completing her undergraduate Honours year under the supervision of Prof Thomas Fath in the Neurodegeneration and Repair Unit, Holly began working as a Research Assistant within the unit. In December 2018, the Neurodegeneration and Repair Unit moved to Macquarie University as part of the Dementia Research Centre (DRC), where Holly continues her work as a Research Assistant.

Research interests

During her time within the Neurodegeneration and Repair Unit and the Dementia Research Centre, Holly Stefen has developed an interest in understanding the role of the neuronal cytoskeleton in healthy and diseased states. Her work aims to uncover the contribution of actin-associated proteins in neuronal morphology, function and regeneration. Her interests have led her to acquire various technical skills including primary neuron cell culture, fluorescence imaging techniques, and more recently, expansion microscopy.
