Biography
Dr. Husain Akareem is a lecturer in the Department of Marketing at Macquarie Business School, with over a decade of research and teaching experience across Asia, Europe, and Australia. His research focuses on societal marketing and business communication, examining how firms can integrate social value creation into business strategy—through responsible offerings, inclusive customer engagement, and stakeholder-oriented decisions—to better understand stakeholder behavior, improve long-term firm performance, and generate measurable social impact. He also investigates how strategic communication (e.g., corporate messaging, disclosure practices, and digital and community-based interactions) shapes stakeholder responses and market outcomes, helping organizations translate purpose-led positioning into performance gains such as engagement, retention, and revenue growth while advancing broader societal outcomes.
His research has been published in leading journals such as the International Journal of Research in Marketing, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Brand Management, Journal of Marketing Management, and Journal of Services Marketing. By bridging academic research with real-world applications, his work offers valuable insights into consumer behavior and service innovation.
Dr. Akareem teaches data-driven marketing and customer insights, quantitative research methods, marketing intelligence, and marketing research. His teaching emphasizes practical applications, helping students develop analytical skills to make informed marketing decisions.
