Iliana Skrebneva is a Lecturer in Inclusive Education and Coordinator of the Master of Inclusive and Special Education at Macquarie University in Sydney. She has been involved in teacher education in Inclusive and Special Education in the School of Education at Macquarie University and Sydney University.

In addition to over 15 years of professional experience in Inclusive and Special Education, Iliana obtained her PhD in Inclusive Education from the University of South Africa (UNISA). Her doctoral dissertation aimed to investigate the unique needs of students with hearing loss in mainstream high schools. The research aimed to add bottom-up approaches to the range of curriculum adaptations necessary to support students with hearing impairments within inclusive education. 

After joining Macquarie University, Iliana has gained comprehensive experience in designing, coordinating and leading pedagogical content at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The research projects she worked on included diverse fields of education, namely Inclusive and Special Needs Education, Curriculum and Assessment, Indigenous Education, Risk-taking and Artificial Intelligence in education. Iliana’s teaching and research interests are in inclusive education, behaviour management and disability studies.

Iliana is a professionally accredited primary school teacher by the New South Wales Education Standards Authority.
