Biography
Inês Hipólito (BPhil, MPhil, MSc, DPhil) is a lecturer of Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence at Macquarie University. Her research, focusing on E-Cognition and how it can help understand and design augmented forms of cognition (e.g. brain-computer interfaces, neurotechnologies and smart environments), has been published in numerous top-ranked journals. She has also taken leading roles in co-edited collections shaping her field. She has been invited to give keynote talks in international events and regularly participates in podcasts.
Inês has received 19 research awards and was awarded the prestigious Talent Grant by the University of Amsterdam in 2021. She is also a co-PI at the consortium project "Neurourbanism as a novel approach to mental health" funded by the Berlin University Alliance. She has also taken on leadership roles in academia, serving as a co-founder and vice-president of the International Society of the Philosophy of the Sciences of the Mind and an elected member of the Women in Philosophy Committee and the Committee in Diversity and Inclusivity at the Australasian Association of Philosophy. Inês's commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in academia is evident in her advocacy work and dedication to fostering a community of over 600 members dedicated to advancing the study of the mind.
